Alyssa Valdez, her life as the Phenom of Philippine Volleyball

She soars like a true eagle.  That’s what I picture of her every time I watch her play in the hard court; and I must admit, I am one of her fan boy.  Who am I referring to?  She is none other than Ms Alyssa Valdez.  The most sought after volleyball star in the Philippines.  She is also known as the The Phenom of Philippine Volleyball.”  Let's get to know more about her by reading this mini profile I made just for her.

Her favorite food is the ever popular pinoy delicacy, adobo.

She has a sweet tooth and loves Banana Cue and Turon.

She is quite prone to having muscles cramps.

Her favorite subject at school: She loves mathematics. 

Weird trivia about herself: She is prone to having injuries.

Her favorite animal is a dog.

She is a big Jollibee fan.

Her celebrity crush is Daniel Padilla.

Her favorite place to hang out in Ateneo is the Church of the Gesu.

She was raised by her parents Ruel and Pablita Valdez.  She is the only girl among her four siblings.  She learned to play volleyball at the tender age of 10.

She was first discovered by the University of Sto. Tomas when she played for the Southern Tagalog Athletic Association sports meet for elementary and high school students.

She attended high school at the University of Sto. Tomas where she became part of the UST Tigress Cubs.

She was enrolled as a freshman at the Ateneo de Manila University in the year 2010-2011.

She was hailed as the UAAP Season 76's Best Scorer, Best Server, Season MVP and Finals MVP.

She was also part of the Philippine National Team for women’s volleyball in the 2015 Southeast Asian Games which was held in Singapore.

She is the reigning Conference MVP of both Shakey's V-League Open and Collegiate Conferences.


What I truly admire about Alyssa is her humility.  Despite the big achievements and recognition she was currently receiving, she remained very humble and simple. And that made her shine among the rest of her contenders.
